Our school was a flurry of media on Tuesday, 15 May, as the federal Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth,the Hon Peter Garrett AM, MP came to Lynwood Park PS to launch the start of the NAPLAN tests. He was accompanied by Michelle Rowland MP during his visit. We also had Peter Adams, the General Manager for Assessment and Reporting at ACARA (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority) as part of the official party.
Our honoured guests were greeted by our school captains who took them to the library where they were introduced to our student parliament and members of the school's P&C. A visit was then made to Kindergarten, where our guests viewed a literacy session and the media were able to take photos.
The entourage then went to our BER school hall where students from K-2 ran a wonderful assembly with a dance performance by students in 1/2L. As time for the visit was limited, Minister Garrett quickly moved to the library for a press conference about NAPLAN.
